2019 LAKE REALTY SPIRITUS MASTERS GOLF TOURNAMENT
What a day! The 2019 Lake Realty Spiritus Masters was attended by 120 golfers, over 50 volunteers, numerous sponsors and a host of Verdict Ridge Golf & Country Club staff. Jessica Link made sure we had another beautiful day for the fourth annual golf tournament to benefit her vision for Spiritus Project.
The crowd was entertained by Bart Kelly's magic during the day. They were further awed by this bright, talented, well-spoken young man when he delivered an amazing speech at our reception (view it on his Facebook page), only then revealing that he is an adult cystic fibrosis patient with a connection to Spiritus Project. By the way, he graduates in May from UNC Wilmington with a degree in biology (Cum Laude) and is looking for a job doing research in a lab or at the clinical level. Some lucky company will certainly benefit from his many talents!
Two carloads of doctors, nurses and social workers traveled from UNC Adult Cystic Fibrosis Center and UNC Health Care in Chapel Hill to mingle with the golfers and sponsors. They shared their stories of how Spiritus Project helps them help their patients, while also thanking the golfers and sponsors for their support.
An extensive silent auction coordinated by Mary Williams, a rousing live auction (featuring a chef's dinner from Tim Schafer, a Hawaii vacation, a Blowing Rock vacation and an original painting from Diane Araps of Artillus Studios), and the sales of bows and flags to Verdict Ridge homeowners by Sherry Laws James helped push the total raised in this event to over $110,000!

Many thanks to the event volunteers, some of whom worked from sunup to late evening to pull of this event. Lynn Brotherton did a masterful job of pulling this team together to provide the golfers and sponsors with a day full of memories.
